What is SINEC Security Guard?
SINEC Security Guard is a "Software as a Service" (SaaS) offering from Siemens AG. Like all SaaS offerings, SINEC Security Guard evolves over time: Features may become added or adapted or removed to ensure state-of-the-art service and user experience. You can find the list of changes in the Release notes.
What does it do?
SINEC Security Guard detects vulnerabilities in your plant and (optionally) security events that indicate possible cybersecurity attacks against your plant network. It compares available vulnerability information with the assets used in your plant's inventory and their configuration.
SINEC Security Guard filters unnecessary information so that, for example, only information about vulnerabilities is displayed which applies on assets that are part of your inventory.
Even physically identical assets can be affected by different vulnerabilities if they differ in the installed firmware version or their configuration.
SINEC Security Guard matches the firmware versions installed on assets with information about vulnerabilities: Only vulnerabilities that are relevant to the currently installed firmware version are displayed. Vulnerabilities that the already installed firmware version prevents are automatically hidden.
SINEC Security Guard also allows to manage the tasks that had been created in order to cope with the existing vulnerabilities. Optional attack sensors of the integrated intrusion detection system detect and display known patterns of security events in the network, which indicates possible cyber attacks.
