System requirements
Browser and internet connection
To use SINEC Security Guard, Siemens recommends the latest version of the Chrome browser with an effective minimum width of 1280 pixels. The effective width depends on the width and resolution of the screen. For use on assets with multiple users (kiosk system), Siemens recommends opening SINEC Security Guard in an incognito window and closing this window after use.
SINEC Security Guard is a 'Software as a service' (SaaS) product. A stable internet connection is required while using it. The following domains must be accessible:
Use of data sources
SINEC Security Guard uses data from a variety of sources to deliver optimal results:
- Inventory data: The inventory can be obtained by download from the Siemens Industrial Asset Hub or by importing a .CSV file.
- Vulnerability information: Once a day, SINEC Security Guard retrieves data on vulnerabilities. Retrieved data is immediately integrated into SINEC Security Guard and applied in the corresponding overviews. Tasks that have already been scheduled can be made obsolete and removed through updated data. See Update of an existing vulnerability.
- Security events: New patterns for detecting security events are integrated by a 3rd-party intrusion detection system.
SINEC Security Guard shows vulnerability information and security events only for those assets that are marked as 'Supported' in the inventory. Hereinafter, 'asset' only refers to supported assets.
Related requirements for sensor onboarding
Cyber attacks typically cause abnormal network traffic. SINEC Security Guard is able to receive data from optional attack sensors which are able to detect suspicious network traffic. To install such sensors, the IED must fulfil these requirements:
- 4 CPUs
- 8GB RAM
- 240GB SSD
- 2x 100Mbps Network Adapter
